My veterinarian recommended EquiCrown® for my 3-year-old Oldenburg “Finn” who injured his hind left leg and was put on stall rest. We often work off the horse trailer for showing, which makes post competition leg care difficult. After struggling with mobile ice boot solutions, I started using EquiCrown™ ACTIVES two years ago. They are the perfect solution for pre and post competition - easy to apply and the results are tighter legs and happier horses than with ice boots. Horses stamp when they’re not loving the feel of ice boots and we must remove them. We’ve never gotten this reaction with our EquiCrown ACTIVES -the horses are happy to munch their hay without any issue.

We have used the ACTIVE compression bandages on our own thoroughbred Dublin Green. He breezed extremely well in them. It felt like it built his confidence with the extra support. We put on all legs for one hour before he raced at the Aqueduct racetrack, took off for the race, and he won that race by 8 lengths. This is a horse that had been a stand at the gate personality! One of our horses suffered an injury to its Deep Digital Flexor Tendon (DDFT) by slipping on ice. Karma stood in our pasture and was obviously in distress. A vet was called – by this time Karma had a high fever, and unable to bear weight on her right hind. After an incomplete veterinary-prescribed treatment plan for two severe episodes of lymphangitis, and no rehabilitation, we contacted EquiCrown™ Canada and were coached through a pressure therapy rehabilitation using the FIT and ACTIVE bandages. Our large Percheron suffered with a fluid filled leg that resembled a stove pipe. The EquiCrown™ reduced the hock diameter by 6 inches and the fetlock diameter by 4 inches. I don’t know another company that makes compression bandages for horses as well as EquiCrown. Compression has been used for many years with humans and it’s relatively new to horses but a positive development in leg care. We use both ACTIVES and FITS in our daily care. The bandages provide the correct amount of pressure, and the open weave ensures the leg stays cool. Most recently, we used ACTIVES as an important part of rehabbing a tendon injury in my horse, Queensland. My horse, Expo, developed a severe case of cellulitis, and for a long time, we did not think he would survive let alone be sound. However, the residual swelling in his hind leg caused him to compensate, and that resulted in a check ligament injury to his front legs. Equicrown™ stockings have been the ticket for treating my sweet, now 23 yr old appendix QH gelding, and his chronic lymphangitis, with cellulitis episodes of his right hind. They have prevented relapses, returned his leg to near normal svelteness and resolved his chronic scabs around his fetlock.

We are fans of the EquiCrown™ compression wraps. Don Principe is a 19-year-old stallion that has been competing at Grand Prix dressage since the age of 9. I have been using the EquiCrown bandages on my American Saddlebred horse, Hallie for over 3 years. I purchased Hallie after she sustained a traumatic injury to her hind right leg that ended in chronic lymphangitis and ended her show career. Managing her condition was, at first, a challenge. I purchased my EquiCrown™ compression wraps just over a year ago. Most of my splint boots invariably succumb to 'Velcro fatigue’. After having used these wraps virtually daily, they continue to maintain their shape and support like the day I bought them. The zipper can be a challenge to do up, but it shows no wear so far. I do cover them with an old set of splint boots when on the trail to protect against snags, but that has not been a problem in the arena. A good product.

My main trick riding mare, Aurora, and I travel a lot of miles together across Canada and the United States. I am a recently retired small animal ER and critical care veterinarian. I have had horses most of my life and am an adult amateur dressage competitor and a Beginner Novice event rider. My Irish Sport horse Sterling developed a wind gall of his right fetlock. It never caused lameness but was very slowly getting progressively larger. Love love love EquiCrown™. MY colts do not load in the trailer without their compression EquiCrown™ socks. I am a firm believer in compression to keep the legs fit while traveling and these socks are. I use the hock compression wraps as after maintenance to keep consistent pressure on the joint to aid in recovery. EquiCrown™ compression wraps will promote healthy legs which makes a faster happy horses down the road!

We used EquiCrown FIT silver in a post-operative bandaging situation and found it to be very effective. The horse suffered a perforation into the frog and ensuing infection into the pastern and lower leg. The offending object was removed through the frog and arthroscopic entry points in the pastern and fetlock were used to drain fluid. The ports were covered with surgical pads and the FIT applied over the leg to control the edema build up from surgery. We are very pleased with the results, specifically that the FIT kept the leg cool with no heat build up under the compression bandage. From a cost analysis, this was a less costly alternative for the owner and easier for them on a daily bandage change. It also permitted the horse to have athletic compression support during their re-entry into work.

I love them, so quick and easy to apply, love that I can hose them off with while still on the horse’s legs, and very impressed with how cool the legs stay, even on the hottest of Australian days. I have found them a very handy tool in treating minor wounds which could potentially have required penicillin. They make wound dressing so easy whilst providing great circulation and lymphatic drainage. The EquiCrown™ compression wraps have been wonderful. They have reduced Josie’s wind puff by 50%. I don't put them on her every night anymore but rather when she has a hard ride or a stopping lesson.
